They deserve our Honor one and all.
Tomorrow is Memorial Day. Most of us will be celebrating a day off from work. I too will be taking a break from the normal work week. I will celebrate with my family and spend a moment to thank and honor all of those who have served and died. These are the ones who have made it possible for you and I to enjoy the fruits of the American dream. Without their unselfish sacrifices we as a nation could not and would not exist.Mudville Gazette Please spend a moment to remember these great heros. I know I will.

I found my blog on google on page 2!
This one is for me.
Listening to OPM, Menace to Sobriety! One of the best records (hope I'm not dating myself) of all times. At least in the top 5
I'm toasted and loose. I'm having a good day with my oldest graduating from high-school this week.
I searched Google to see where my pueney (sic) litle blog would show up on the list. I showed up on page two. Man I'm making progress in the world. the13thfloor I actually feel like I might start publicizing my little spot on the internet.
I am just gong to ramble on for a while if you don.t mind. I know you don't mind because nobody is out there. I know this to be true. But I really don't care. It's alright. These words will always be there for me and mine. That is the beauty of the blogosphere. You are allowed to speak even if no one is listening. Kind of like the United States...You have a right to speak, not a right to be heard.
Anyhow, 18 years have passed and my wife and I have raised our first child. It is incredible how quickly the time really does pass. Pictures in my head of him sleeping on my chest as an infant. The early trips to the the Bronco games. The karate tournaments, the football games. The trips across town for school, ortho appointments, bithday parties. I just slips by.
By law he is now responsible for himself.
I ask myself, have we given him an oportunity to gain the knowledge and wisdom necessary for success in the life he has ahead? Have we given him an opportunity to learn to be a good person? Has he learned the discipline and drive necessary to succeed in his endeavors? Does he have the social skills necessary to coexist with others? Does the know the difference between right and wrong? We he be fruitful and multiply?
Only time will truely tell, but I am confident, that my son will make his mother and me look very good and parents.

No matter how you spin it, this is a bad deal for Conservatives
Even 12 hours later I am still screaming mad. This is a bad deal for all of us.7 Republicans abandon GOP on filibuster - The Washington Times: Nation/Politics - May 24, 2005 All I can say is these people need to go.
You can find the good things in this agreement but I believe we blew a giant oportunity to crush the left. I want the weak senators to lose thier jobs in the upcoming elections, and I will do whatever I can to support their opponents.
John McCain, you might as well put a (d) next to your name. You are the leader of this rebellion and we the base will never forget. If you run for president, you will run as a democrat.

The weak kneed repulican centrists strike again
This is an unbelievably bad deal for the republican base. Totally unnecessary. We had the democrats backed into the corner with no where to go. These centrist republicans (Republicans signing the agreement were Sens. Mike DeWine (Ohio), Susan Collins (Maine), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Lincoln Chafee (R.I.), McCain, John Warner (Va.), and Olympia Snowe (Maine)) let them off the hook. What do we gain? Nothing! We actually lose two highly qualified judicial candidates.Centrists compromise, averting filibuster faceoff - Politics - MSNBC.com As of right now, no more money for the RSC or any republican organization until I see the fall out. This deal sucks! When will we learn to weild the power that the electorate has given us.

Newsweek ups its standards
This is all well and good. Hopefully this will protect to magazine from making mistakes like the getmo story.A Letter to Our Readers - Letters & Live Talk - MSNBC.com I rather doubt it. Anything to bring down a republican president will still be the status quo.
I have a sugestion. Considering we are at war, maybe the editors at Newsweek, and any other mainstream news organization, might want to take into consederation what effect negative reporting has. If it seems like it might aid and abett the enemy, even if it's true, in the interst of the nation, you could bury the story. Lets win the war first. Then you can win your Pulitzer.
News blackout for the weekend,
Its amazing what you didn't miss when you stay away from the media for a weekend. I was completely void of any news this entire weekend. I didn't read any blogs, watch any TV, or read any newspapers. I wasn't exposed to any top of the hour news breaks on the radio, because in Denver there are not any sports of interest to the masses during the summer (the Rockies suck). I do know that the first lady got heckled somewhere becuase it was AOL's top news story when I logged on to check e-mail. Typical!
Anyhow, it was a nice change. I'll bet I can tell you what I missed. Absolutely nothing. The constitutional option is still going to happen and the republicans still have the votes. All the hype and spin I missed this weekend is just that.
The Republicans are in power now and the base is not going to tollerate a weak response to weak democrats. If your name has an (r) next to it, you better vote the party line this time. The election on 2004 was about Judges. We canned the cheif obstructionist (Daschel) and we will can you if you can not deliver the vote. We want our Judges and we expect the loser democrats to get out of the way. If they refuse to move, the men in power better have the spine to make them move.
I have faith in my elected officials to do the right thing. I believe my elected officials understand that this is a watershed event. With the constitutional option we can once and for all bring democrats to the realization they are losers and will continue to be beaten down. They will be foced to shutup and get out of the way.

Blood on their hands/Salon.com News | Holding Newsweek accountable
I wanted to blog on this saturday morning when I saw that riots and death were the lead story on AOL. I surfed around on the newsweek site looking for the article and could not find it.I Salon.com News | Holding Newsweek accountable I had a feeling the story was bogus. Just another attempt to bring down a president and his administration. These people are so intent on this goal that they have lost all respect for patriotism and nationalism. What did Newsweek think was going to happen when the Muslim world got ahold of this story. I would thnk Newsweek would have been absolutly sure that this story was true. Now they have blood on their hands, and are backing off the story. Newsweek = CBS = no credibility.

Some people have no sense of humor.
I know I am a couple of weeks late on this post but someone in my household wanted to hear Laura Bush's speach at the Whitehouse Correspondent Dinner. About.com: http://treyjackson.typepad.com/junction/2005/04/video_president_1.html As we sat and watched and listened, it brought back all the negative commentary I heard from the right and the leff. She showed a lack of respect for the president and the office. Give me a break! This woman loves her husband and showed it to the world. She used humor to connect to the regular people of the world. She showed us all that even the most powerfull man in the world is still just a man and a father and a husband. Those who thought this speach was inappropriate are just too up-tight.

“Do you want to confirm judges or do you want to pick a fight?” Reid challenged Republicans.
Guess what Senator Reid, we want both.Democrat's offer aims to avert filibuster face-off - Politics - MSNBC.com It looks like we are going to get both if you choose to mount a filibuster against any of the 7 nominees coming out of committee. Your party will choose wether there will be a fight or not! We already know that the judges will be confirmed if they are granted advice and consent from the Senate. We also know that if there is a fight, you will get your ass handed to you in the form of a rule change.

Would democats have changed the rules?
I am going to assume for the sake of argument that the information contained in this Center for American progress story is correct. Lets assume the republicans did try to mount a filibuster against Judge Paez.Frist's Hypocritical and Dishonest Attack on Democracy - Center for American Progress The first thing that jumps out, by looking at the data ,is the number of republicans who voted for clouture and gave the man a chance at an up or down vote.
But what if the republicans could have mustered the 41 votes necessary to keep debate going. What would the press have said. Would republicans be portrayed as the minority protecting the sacred checks and balance intended by the constitution (by the way this is not what the constitution had in mind when it was written... A diferent subject for a different time.). Hell no! The republicans would have been lambasted as the obstructionist, thwarting the will and right of a sitting president to choose his judicial nominees.
How long would it have taken for the democrats, who were in power at the time, to change the rules to stop the filibuster. I'll tell you how long. A NEW YORK MINUTE! So get over it and get on with the vote. The Republicans, and Bill Frist in particular, need to show some leadership and force the dems hand.

The end is near (hopefully).
So it seems the end of the filibuster that has held up President Bush's appellate judge nominees for as much as 4 years are going to end in the very near future. From the sounds of the left, Senate majority leader Bill Frist has the votes to kill this abstructionist tactic for good. All of the current talk of comprimise is just a smoke screen from the left. Democrats know that any comprimise will be considered a loss by the conservative base, and the wrath of the base will be bloody.
With this in mind, the question is, do Republican senators have the backbone to actually force the hand of the Democrats? I can only hope the preverbial poop hits the fan soon. I am sick and tired of the left making out like the republicans are breaking some sacred oath in changing the rules. I am sick of the misrepresentations by the left of previous conservative use of the filibuster to block Clinton nominees. These are out and out lies and signs of the weakness of the left. A blue card is not a filibuster no matter how you look at it. Just let these people have an up or down vote in the Senate. Do your advice and consent.
I am also quite interested to see who, of the elected conservative senators, votes against the constitutional option of changing this rule. I am curious to see if John McCain will stick to his previously stated intent of voting against the rule change. Considering that he has already blown any chance of winning the republican presidential nomination in 2008, he might as well vote nay and then run for the democrat nomination. Chuck Hagel can still save a presidential chance by voting for the rule change. The rest of the RINO senators may want to consider just what a no vote will bring. The base will be mighty pissed if the rules are not changed.
What's the point of having a majority if your going to let the minority set the tone and tennor or the battle. If we as a party are not going to make lead then we might as well just vote the weak out and start the whole process over again. My money is on Frist and the truth.

DenverPost.com - LOCAL NEWS
More Proof we are winning the ballte...
The liberals (I mean progressives) in this country are finished. As this article confirms, we are now gaining strength in the last bastion of liberal diminance. DenverPost.com - LOCAL NEWS Soon, choice in education through the voucher system, will prevail accross the country. The indoctination center for liberalism, they call the public school system, will be rendered usless to the leftists. This will cause them the go nuts as the effects of free choice take over of the education system finally kill the Liberal democrats in this country.
Liberals have already lost their monopoly on the information dissemination in this country. They can no longer pedal thier lies and biases to the american electorate as news. The Internet and talk radio will never again let news be spread unchallanged. I have wittnessed the changing of the country from liberal to conservative in my lifetime. ,
